April 2024 Concert Reviews
David @ Punk Wok 3/16
We went to so many great shows this past month, but perhaps the best one we attended (no we aren’t biased…) was our cohost’s David’s first show of the year at Punk Wok in Nashville! David really brings the energy and passion to his shows with “The Black Tie Affair”. Melo-D, our first ever guest on the show, lended his soulful vocals to the set with songs like “Ivory Black.” Two other guests from our show – Bassist Kyle Hanson (from local band “Slider”) and Drummer Quinton Kufahl also played for David along with our friends Sadika Anderson and Maxwell Hardin. It has been really great to create friendships with these local musicians and have people to help David out. On top of that, we had even more SU friends attend the show! Lauren Gunn, H.L.D.N., Tonkuh, and Justin Eberhardt all came out to show their appreciation and jam out with us! We also got to see Luke Robbins kill it on the keys with the headliner for the night – Billy Ray Wallace. Atlanta from Hexproof also showed up and we even got to have a late night Waffle House outing with her and Quinton. It was really special to see all of these people that we have built relationships with come together and make music with us and meet each other.
David and Luke will be playing The Underdog on May 10th at 6:30PM and we can;t wait for another SU All Star show.
Dead Before Impact @ DRKMTTR 3/21
Local producer Tristan Roberts, singer Blake Thompson, and guitarist Joe Schremmer formed their metal band “Dead Before Impact” last year and finally got a chance to perform their FIRST show ever at DRKMTTR Collective in Nashville! Despite their proclamation of nerves, they did a great job with their vocals and have some really great music. A personal favorite was “Enemy”. We also got to see local metal band “Break and Enter”, featuring our friend Ashley Briggs (and Joe Schremmer plays for them as well!). The mosh pit was in full swing (with Tristan and Blake participating) and lead singer Brock had a TON of energy. It was a great first show for Dead Before Impact and we are excited to see them at their second show April 21 at The Cobra in Nashville!
Hexproof @ The Pea Patch 3/31
Hexproof ventured outside of Nashville and into Clarksville at The Pea Patch! This is their second show of the year (and as their official band) and they brought the house down! Not only did they get to perform their latest single “Left For Dead” (streaming everywhere!), but they also performed their song “Stay” (a personal favorite) for the first time ever. OG Hexproof fans know this song! Hexproof always knows how to put on a show and lead singer Atlanta made sure everyone rocked out with her. She got a mosh pit going (or as they called it, a “Ninja Pit” – for their Kung-Fu song “Half a Loaf”) and got some really good crowd participation with their song “Drive.” They plan to go on tour later this year, so if you aren’t local, you have a chance to see them live! Go follow them to see if they’re heading to your town!
